Ministry of Education Probes Alleged BECE Placement Bribery

The Ministry of Education has launched an investigation into allegations of bribery in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) placement process, following viral social media claims that admission into Aburi Girls’ Senior High School costs GHC15,000. The claim, attributed to one Gertrude Adzo Borklo, has been described by the Ministry as an attempt to fuel a “conspiratorial narrative” that the Computerized School Placement System (CSSPS) is up for sale. According to officials, attempts to reach the author proved futile, as her social media account was deactivated shortly after the post. Resolution Centres Address Placement Issues: Over 564,000 Candidates Secure School Placement

The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Resolution Centre has intensified efforts to resolve placement-related concerns of candidates and parents across the country. The centres, which began operations on Friday, September 18, 2025, are providing support to ensure smooth placement into Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Technical Institutes. According to the Secretariat, more than 564,000 out of 590,390 qualified candidates have so far been successfully placed. Since opening, the centres have received 1,358 cases, with the majority involving requests for change of school. Out of these, 1,100 cases were related to transfers, with about 76% of requests seeking movement from Category C and B schools to Category A schools, while 14% involved transfers within Category B...
