High Court rejects bail application of alleged murderers of Hotfm Finance Manager

An Accra High Court has turned down a bail application put in by two alleged murders of Hotfm Finance Manager, Peter Kwabena Antwi. The Court held that the state had been able to convince it about the seriousness of the matter. According to the Court, accused persons could not be presumed innocent as the trial had not commenced. Mr. J.K Deborah, lawyer for the applicants, on November 6, this year prayed the High Court to grant bail to the accused because they were nowhere near the crime scene. Moving the motion for bail for the applicants, Mr. Deborah held that none of the accused persons even knew the hotel, where the said crime took place. An Accra High Court hearing the case of Dr Stephen Opuni, the former CEO of COCOBOD and two others has adjourned hearing of an application for stay of proceedings pending appeal to June 18.
