African Games: Benjamin Azamati, Barnabas Aggerh set to compete in men’s 100m final

Ghana duo Benjamin Azamati and Barnabas Aggerh have advanced to the final of the men’s 100m event at the ongoing African Games. The two sprinters were among three Ghanaian athletes who made the semifinals after overcoming their respective heats, alongside Sarfo Ansah. African Games 2023: Azamati, two others make men’s 100m semifinals

National record holder Benjamin Azamati has booked a place in the semifinal of the men's 100m event at the ongoing African Games. Azamati finished first in Heat 5 of the event with a time of 10.54 seconds. Aside the former West Texas A&M athlete, Barnabas Aggerh and Ansah Sarfo also made it to the next stage of the competition. Aggerh came second in Heat 2 with a time of 10.46 seconds while Sarfo's time of 10.34 seconds saw him make the semis as one of the best fourth-placed runners. Hor Halutie advanced to the semi-finals of the women's category by finishing second in Heat 1 in 11.46 seconds.Kwartemaa Benedicta finished fifth in Heat 2 of the 100-meter sprint, clocking 11.95 seconds. The aquatic centre at the newly built Borteyman Complex is hosting the swimming competition at the 12th African Games taking place in Ghana such as cycling and athletics. The multi-sport competition runs from March 8 to March 23 with African athletes competing in various disciplines including those that serve as qualifiers to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. 13th African Games: Aleander Mayar of Mauritius Wins Men’s Elite and U 23 race

Aleander Mayar of Mauritius came first in the Men's Elite and Under 23 race at the ongoing African games event. He finished ahead Dilian Geary and Kudus Ghebremedlein of South Africa and Eritrea respectively in the cycling competition. The race which took place at Ablekuma Olebu in Accra, involved 96 cyclists but was finished by 56 cylist due to the average speed displayed. The winner rode home in a time of 3hrs, 06mins 01 secs over a distance of 137.5 km. The entire average speed was 44.35km/hr. Ghana’s Solomon Tagoe placed 31st as the lone ghanaian finisher of the Golden Pedals. Cudjoe ended above three riders counting from the last cyclist to finish. AT names 14 runners for Ghana’s All Africa Games

Athletics Tanzania (AT) has named 14 runners who will represent the country in the All Africa Games scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana, from March 8 to 23. AT secretary general Jackson Ndaweka named male runners as Twahir Haji Ame, Peter Gidoska, Josephat Gisemo, Samir Sululu, Mao Hando, John Wele, Ally Gulam, and Gasisi Geagase. Women runners, according to Ndaweka, are Mwanaamina Mkwayu, Transfora Musa, Anastasia Dolomongo, Winfrida Makenji, Elizabeth Ilanda, Hamida Nassoro, and Neema Kisuda.
