Ghanaian swimmer Abeiku Jackson has won the men’s 100m butterfly re-swim, but got BRONZE instead of GOLD. It was his second medal at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana. He did a time of 53.80 secs against 53.29secs by Nasr Abdulla and Eaton Jardan of Egypt. Abeiku Jackson thus gives Ghana the fifth medal at the Games which would certainly improve their stand on the medals table.

13th African Games: Ghana’s Winifred Ntumi Wins Double

Ghana’s Winnifred Ntumi has won Team Ghana’s first medals in the ongoing 13th African Games competition in Accra. The female weightlifting gem won two silver medals and one gold medal in the women’s 46kg in weightlifting, clean and jerk as well as the total score. Winnifred is one of Ghana medal hopes after claiming the nation’s first ware at the last Games in Morocco in 2019.

Prez Akufo-Addo urges athletes to strive for excellence at African Games opening ceremony

The 13th African Games - Accra 2023 have officially begun in Ghana, marking the first time in history the event has been hosted in the country.  The opening ceremony, held at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra today, was a spectacle attended by diplomats, sports people, celebrities and musicians. With almost 3,000 athletes from 48 countries participating, the games will run until March 23, 2024, encompassing 29 different sporting disciplines across two cities - Accra and Cape Coast. Games Village At Legon Prepared To Host African Guests

The University of Ghana will host Games Village for the 13th African Games and is undergoing renovations to improve the stadium’s facilities, such as the tracks for athletics and new rugby field is being built. New and modern facilities have been put up at the University to accommodate and feed over 5,000 athletes and officials who are taking part in the Games. Madam Joyce Datsa, a member of the Local Organising Committee in charge of Accommodation said preparations on going on smoothly and Ghana will deliver on of the best Games. Legon will also serve as central point for transportation from the Games Village to event venues.
