President Mahama Hands Over 40 Armoured Vehicles to Ghana Police Service

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to national security with the official handover of 40 advanced armoured vehicles to the Ghana Police Service at a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

Speaking at the event, President Mahama stated that the investment in modern security equipment forms part of the government’s broader pledge to safeguard the peace and stability of the country.

“Today, as we hand over these 40 advanced armoured vehicles, we are renewing our covenant with the people of Ghana that this nation will protect its citizens, that peace will be defended, and that Ghana will remain secure, stable, and just,” he said.

The President emphasized the importance of responsible use of the new vehicles, stressing that the equipment is both costly and challenging to procure. He urged officers to operate them with professionalism and strict adherence to safety protocols.

“These equipment are expensive and hard to procure. So, you must use them judiciously and according to the rules. Your safety is important. Always follow the safety instructions, wear seat belts. Use them professionally, lawfully, and ethically,” President Mahama advised.

President Mahama was joined at the ceremony by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohunu, and other senior officers of the Ghana Police Service.

The presentation of the armoured vehicles forms part of the ongoing #ResetSecurity agenda under the broader #GhanaReset initiative aimed at strengthening security institutions and enhancing their operational capabilities across the country.
