Government Approves Payment of Salary Arrears for Nurses and Midwives

The Government has approved the payment of outstanding salary arrears owed to nurses and midwives recruited in the 2024/2025 employment year.

In a statement issued on February 26, 2026, the Ministry of Health announced that it has successfully concluded negotiations with the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the settlement of the arrears.

According to the statement, approval has been granted for the arrears to be paid in four instalments spanning April to July 2026.

Approved Payment Schedule

• April: Two (2) months

• May: Three (3) months

• June: Three (3) months

• July: Three (3) months

The Ministry explained that the structured payment arrangement reflects Government’s firm commitment to clearing all outstanding obligations in a timely, responsible, and sustainable manner.

The Ministry further commended nurses and midwives for their patience, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to healthcare delivery despite the delays in payment.

It also expressed sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for the priority attention and urgency given to resolving the matter.

Government, the statement emphasized, remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare, motivation, and well-being of all health workers across the country.
