Croatia (men) and France (women) won the FIBA 3×3 U17 Europe Cup 2023 in Heraklion, Greece, on September 22-24.
In the men’s category, Croatia won their first 3×3 U17 Europe Cup gold medal after defeating Spain in a nail-biter final (21-19). Their top scorer in the competition, Roko Cetina, was named MVP of the 3×3 U17 Europe Cup and featured in the Team of the Tournament alongside Spain’s Alexandre Carrasco, who won silver and finished as the top scorer with 37 points, and Maxime Carrio, who won bronze with France.
On the women’s side, France won their second and consecutive 3×3 U17 Europe Cup gold medal in a rematch of last year’s final against Spain with a score of 13-10. Ainoah Rio (France) was named MVP of the competition and was joined in the Team of the Tournament by Spain’s top scorer Marta Alsina, who won silver, and Marija Ilic, who led Germany to bronze.
Exciting, urban and innovative, 3×3 is inspired by several forms of streetball played worldwide and is considered the most thrilling urban sport. Steered by FIBA, games see two teams of three players face off on a basketball half-court. 3×3 made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
