Estate Developer, two others grabbed for allegedly destroying pineapple farm

An Estate Developer, accused of ordering two persons to destroy a three-acre pineapple farm at Denchira, has been remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit Court. Daniel Ofosu aka Seven Steps, who is also businessman, has been charged with conspiracy to commit crime, namely, causing damage and causing damage. Ofosu pleaded not guilty. Meshack Commey and Benjamin Duodu, Ofosu’s alleged accomplices, who are facing the same charges, have pleaded not guilty. The court presided over by Mr Samuel Bright Acquah has admitted Commey and Duodu to bail in the sum of GHC100,000 each with two sureties each. Ex convict, driver remanded over burglary at Tesano

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded into Police custody a 25-year-old unemployed man who broke into a house at Tesano and made away with television, a laptop, and a tablet. Adolph Kosah is being held on the charges of conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage and three counts of stealing. Kosah, an ex-convict, pleaded guilty to the charges. His accomplice, Benjamin Botchwey, a taxi driver, who is facing the same charges, has pleaded not guilty. Three managers were arrested on Monday by the Data Protection Commission (DPC) and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for breaching the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). The three institutions are Hisense, an electronic goods dealership, Marwako Fast Foods and Agyabeng Akrasi and Co Limited, a law firm. Two others – Quick Credit and Investment Micro-Credit and Bemuah Royal Hospital, were asked to report to the CID by Tuesday morning at the latest for further interrogation. Scrap dealer jailed 10 years for stealing car gear box

An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a 25-year-old scrap dealer for stealing a Renault gear box and its housing belonging to a driver. Mohammed Mansur also stole engine heads of Toyota Corolla S, and Renault air conditioner motor, all totaling GHS8,500.00. Charged with unlawful entry and stealing, Mansur pleaded guilty. The Court presided over by Mr Samuel Bright Acquah, convicted Mansur on his plea and sentenced him to five years imprisonment for unlawful entry and 10 years imprisonment for stealing. “Sentence will run concurrently,” the Court said. Farmer jailed 17 years for defiling 12-year-old girl

The Tarkwa circuit court has sentenced a farmer to 17 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 12-year-old girl on a farm at Juabeng, near Bogoso, in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.  Isaac Lare, 21, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement, was found guilty by the court, presided by Mrs Hathie Ama Manu after trial.
