President Akufo-Addo Sympathises with Victims of Apiate Explosion

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed sympathy to families of deceased and victims of Thursday’s explosion at Apiate, near Bogoso in the Western Region. The Police in a statement said, “preliminary investigation has established that a mining explosive vehicle moving from Tarkwa to Chirano mines collided with a motorcycle resulting in the explosion.” Many people were feared dead after the “huge” explosion. Videos circulated on social media showed many destroyed buildings and scattered debris near the mining town. Though the Police had not confirmed the number of casualties, it said most of the victims were rescued and were on admission at various hospitals and clinics within the Bogoso Municipality. Ambrose Dery, the Minister of Interior, has ordered the management of MAXAM, one of the world’s leading explosives manufacturers and technical services providers, operating in Tarkwa in the Western Region, to address all the shortfalls in its operations within eight weeks. Explosion: GNAT appeals to GES to provide counseling for schools

The Ghana National Association Teachers (GNAT) has appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to identify schools in the adjoining communities and assist them with counseling support following the deadly explosion in Apiati near Bogoso in the Western Region. Covid-19 fourth wave cases declining — GHS

Ghana Covid-19 cases in the fourth wave have proportionally declined for the past two weeks. Providing policy updates on Covid-19 management at press engagement in Accra, the Director-General of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye, said even though all regions have active cases, there has been a significant reduction in cases. He added that cases among international arrivals are also on a downward trend.
