Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac says his outfit is ready for the upcoming AFCON 2021 matchday 2 fixture against Gabon.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s game, the Serbian gaffer is hoping the four-time winners will put up a better performance after the defeat against Morocco.
“We are trying to improve our performance, so expect us to play much better. We have studied Gabon and we’re well-prepared and ready for the match tomorrow.”
Rajavac also revealed that captain Andre Ayew who sustained a head injury after crashing with a Morocco defender in the closing stages of the game is in contention to feature.
He however refused to disclose whether the Al-Sadd forward will start or not.
Assistant coach of Anicet Yala confirmed at the press conference that the striker has recovered from Covid.
“It’s a good thing to have Aubameyang and Lemina and that gives us a bigger chance of winning against Ghana,” he said.
Black Stars will take on Gabon at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 7 pm.
Black Stars will aim is to secure all three points after their stuttering start. This encounter could possibly propel Gabon into the next stage of the competition if they beat Ghana.
However, it’s all or nothing for Ghana as they need a win to stand a chance to qualify to the round 16th stage of the competition.
