The Ghana Football Association [GFA] are hoping to get Kudus Mohammed to the Black Stars camp ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon].
The 21-year-old has been out of action after picking up an injury during Black Stars’ last group game against South Africa in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers at the Cape Coast in November.
Ajax Amsterdam have already communicated to the Ghana FA that the youngster is still under recovery and would not be available for the tournament.
But according to the Communications Director of the Ghana FA, Henry Asante Twum, the former FC Nordsjaelland forward is not out of the competition.
“Kudus Mohammed is not ruled out of the Afcon yet. It is still 50-50,” he told Accra based Asempa FM.
“We are in contact with Ajax and we will make a decision in the best interest of the player,” he added.
The Black Stars have already opened camp in Qatar preparing for the 33rd edition of the continent most prestigious tournament.
Ghana are in Group C alongside Morocco, Comoros and Gabon. Milovan Rajevac, who is on a one year deal has been tasked to end the country’s 40 years trophy drought having won the last trophy in 1982 in Libya.
The 2021 Afcon kick off from January 9 to February 6.
