MTN FA Cup: Asante Kotoko paired with King Faisal

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will face city rivals King Faisal in the round 64 of the 2022 FA Cup competition. The Porcupine Warriors were paired against their rivals during the draw on Tuesday afternoon. Asante Kotoko suffered their first defeat in the GPL at the hands of King Faisal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium making their impending encounter a promised tie. Both clubs have been in top form this season in the Ghana Premier league which has seen them occupy the first and second spot on the league log respectively. The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is liaising with the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation to regulate the advertisement of tobacco and its associate products as part of measures to control its increasing use among the youth. “Though measures have been taken over the years to curb the publicity of tobacco and tobacco products, it has been discovered that publicity is growing more on social media where most of the youth have come into contact with some of the tobacco products, hence the need to collaborate with the ministry to bring the situation under control”. European Investment Bank Supports Ghana’s Covid-19 National Response Plan With €82.5 Million

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has welcomed the €82.5 million support offered to Ghana by the European Investment  Bank (EIB) to strengthen healthcare, provision of specialist medical equipment and medicines across Ghana under the national COVID-19 Health Response Plan.  The concessional financing package, which comprises a €75 million facility from the  EIB, and €7.5 million grant from the European Commission, was signed at the Luxembourg Headquarters of the European Investment Bank, following President  Akufo-Addo’s official visit to Luxembourg on Monday, 13th December 2021.  The new agreement with Ghana represents the largest national EIB financing for COVID related health investment in Africa....

Cultists set student ablaze for refusing to join

Osun State A university in Nigeria has confirmed an incident where a final-year student was attacked and set ablaze for refusing to join a cult. The student was rescued and is being treated at a hospital with serious burn wounds. On Monday, administrators at Osun State University said that they were working with police to ensure the suspected cultists are arrested. The university discovered the incident after the student failed to show up for exams. They contacted his parents who said he had been attacked and was being treated at the hospital. Declare disputed 8 year accumulated bills as bad debt – Krobo groups to ECG

Two major youth groups in the Krobo area in the Eastern Region have made fresh demands to the Electricity Company of Ghana, 24 hours after the power distributor restored power to the Yilo and Lower Manya Krobo Municipalities after seven days of power cut over an impasse. A joint statement issued Tuesday, December 14, 2021, by the groups -Kloma Hengme (KH) and Kloma Gbi (KG) stated that, while they partly welcome ECG’s proposal to ring-fence accumulated bills of customers in the area from 2014 to 2017, it also counterproposes to ECG that the disputed accumulated bills be ‘absorbed’ as bad debt or be ring-fenced up to July 2021 “to clean the slate for a fresh start”.
