GFA Congress rescheduled to October 28

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has fixed October 28, for the Ordinary Session of Congress. The Congress originally fixed for October 27, was rescheduled to Thursday, October 28, at 9:00am and would be held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Prampram. The decision comes after the GFA initially served Notice of Congress to all Members on October 4, 2021 In accordance with Article 31(3) of the GFA Statutes, the formal Convocation of Congress (which contains the Agenda, the Activity Report, Financial Statements, and the Auditors’ Report, and any other relevant documents) shall be made in writing and circulated to the Members of Congress at least seven (7) days before Thursday, October 28, 2021.

President Akufo-Addo receives Serbian highest national award

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Monday received the Medal of the Republic of Serbia, the highest state Order, for scaling up ties and cooperation between Ghana and Serbia. The Order was awarded by decree of the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić, at a ceremony at the seat of the Presidency in Belgrade. A citation accompanying the award said President Akufo-Addo was decorated with the Order “for exceptional merits in developing and strengthening cooperation and friendly relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Ghana.” The ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 60th Anniversary celebrations of the founding of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in the Balkan State.

Defence Counsel for Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central, has thanked the Special Prosecutor, Mr Kissi Agyebeng, for dropping charges against the MP. Mr Godwin Edudzie Tamaklo said in line with  the processes of discovery, the prosecution shared with them the evidence they intended to tender, which included letters from the Societe’ Generale Bank. Cybersecurity service providers to be issued licenses

Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, says cybersecurity service providers will be issued licenses for legal recognition to operate. This is in line with Section 49 of the Cybersecurity Act 2020, which mandates the licensing of all cybersecurity service providers. The Minister said the licensing would ensure that there was sanity within the industry in terms of capabilities and acceptable ways of conducting such sensitive services in Ghana. Four remanded over alleged conspiracy to kill Asona Royal Family head

The Agona Swedru District Magistrate's Court has remanded four people from the Asona Royal Family of Agona Kwanyarko into police custody for allegedly conspiring to kill the family head. The pleas of Kennedy Adjie, Gyasie Oduwa also known as Joseph Koomson, Eric Frimpong and Lawrence Amoo aka Sokodie, who are all from the Kwanyako Asona Family, were not taken. Maj. Mahama trial: Kofi Nyame to open defence

Kofi Nyame, one of the alleged murderers of Major Maxwell Mahama, will on October 18, 2021, open his defence in the mini-trial in the ongoing case. Mr Theophilus Donkor, Counsel for Nyame, was supposed to open his defence initially but could not do so, which he attributed to his inability to have access for conference with his client. The Court, presided over my Madam Mariama Owusu, a Supreme Court Judge, sitting as an additional High Court Judge, asked the Counsel to prepare and open defence on behalf of Nyame.
