Kasoa shooting: Case against Hawa Koomson dropped

Police have dropped charges against Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, for firing gunshots at a polling station during the 2020 voters registration exercise. All the suspects involved have been acquitted and discharged by the court for want of evidence. The MP, who is also the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, disclosed this in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Tuesday. On Monday, July 20, 2020, during the voters’ registration exercise, the MP fired a gun at the Steps to Christ Registration Centre. Mrs Koomson said her action was borne out of self-defense – an explanation many Ghanaians did not accept. Police in the Central Region retrieved the gun as evidence for investigations and subsequently proceeded ...

NPP has no intention of fighting corruption; vote them out in 2024 – Mahama urge Ghanaians

Former President, John Dramani Mahama is asking Ghanaians to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government claiming that the ruling government has no intention to fight corruption. Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs in Wa on Monday, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections said if Ghanaians want to hold the current government accountable, then a new party should be voted for in the next general election in 2024. ‘‘The NPP have no intention of fighting corruption and so the only way they can be made to account to the people of Ghana is for them to leave office so that the new government will come and audit them and show where they have gone wrong. Otherwise, all the money they have stolen, they will just walk away with it,” John M...

2020 Elections: We Maintained Level Heads For Peace Of Ghana – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has said that even though the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not happy with the conduct of the 2020 elections, it still maintained a level head because the peace of Ghana is more important than anyone in the country. He said there were many countries, where disputed elections led to civil wars, but for the grace of God Ghana continue to remain peaceful after elections since 1992 because the country cherished peace. Former President Mahama said this at the palace of Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, during his visit to the Upper West Region as part of his nationwide ‘thank you’ tour. He thanked both Traditional and Religious Leaders in the country for their contribution to peace in the country, adding that anytime they were heading int...

Mahama and Akufo-Addo, who does more with taxpayers’ money?

I read John Mahama saying on his belated “thank you tour” that NPP wants to break the 8 in order to protect itself from corruption. The simple response to that must be that the NPP wants to break the 8 in order to protect Ghana and the gains being made for Ghanaians from the likes of “Mahama the Disaster”. The evidence is still fresh in our minds why John Mahama was a disaster and I shudder to think how he would have handled the COVID-19 crisis and its disastrous impact on the economy today. Our problems are, of course, many and varied. Our struggle is historic, deep, real and naked. So, it is easy to be convinced by an acerbic and sweet tongue that can hit hard and promise paradise.  But, we must be guided by what such a tongue does with its mind, heart and hands when give...

NPP can only be held accountable if voted out in 2024 – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has stated that Ghanaians can hold the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) accountable only if the party is voted out of office in the 2024 general election. He alleged during his “Thank you Tour” of the Upper West Region that the incumbent government has stolen from the Ghanaian taxpayer, hence a change in government; a vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will help expose such acts. Mr John Mahama made the statement in Wa whilst addressing regional, constituency, branch executives and supporters of the opposition party. ‘‘The NPP have no intention of fighting corruption and so the only way they can be made to account to the people of Ghana is for them to leave office so that the new government will come and audit them and show...

Mahama Rejects Agenda 111 Hospitals

Former President John Dramani Mahama is showing his true character again for rejecting anything progressive by the current administration. Mahama who ferociously fought the implementation of the free SHS before turning round to claim credit for the policy is now hitting hard at Agenda 111 hospitals. The NDC 2024 presidential hopeful has kicked against the government decision to construct the 111 hospitals across the country. According to him, President Akufo –Addo is just wasting the tax payers’ resources, since the hospital projects will not be completed before the NPP leaves office. Mr. Mahama claimed “It is only an afterthought that suddenly they [NPP] realized that they must be doing some infrastructure and Agenda 111 has been conjured with no transparency as to how th...

Gov’t Rubbishes Mahama Claims Of Starving New Regions Of Devt

THE Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Dan Kwaku Botwe, has rubbished former President John Mahama claims that President Akufo-Addo has abandoned the new regions without constructing infrastructure to develop them. The minister also debunked assertions by a section of the public that very few development projects were taking place in the newly created regions. The 2020 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, on his ‘’Thank You, Tour’’ to the North East region said: “You cannot just create regions in the name. The regions must be worthy of being called regions. And it is the infrastructure that makes a region.” According to the former President “If you go to Tamale, you will know that this is the...
