A driver’s mate has allegedly been strangulated to death by armed robbers who attacked two fuel filling stations at Oborpah, a farming community along Oterkpolu to Odumase Krobo highway in the Eastern Region. The three masked suspected robbers wielding pistols reportedly strangulated a driver’s mate sleeping under one of the limestone trucks parked at Safety Filling station after they mistook him for a security man on duty. AMA orders fishermen using Jamestown Fishing Harbour Project site to relocate to temporary site to avoid arrest

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has ordered all fishermen using the Jamestown Fishing Harbour Project site as landing bays to relocate to the Dogo Beach where a temporary fishing bay had been constructed for them to avoid arrest.  According to the Assembly, the continuous use of the site was delaying the contractor from completing the project as scheduled hence the directive.   Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) gave the directive on Wednesday when he met fisherfolks in Jamestown at the City Engineers to address some concerns raised by the Chinese engineers and contractors after which he toured the project site to assess the progress of work. The Police have impounded 40 vehicles for various traffic offences along the Kpone-Dawenya stretch of the N1 highway during a special exercise conducted in partnership with Citi FM/TV on Friday, 20 August. Tamne Dam overflows and destroys farmlands and houses at Tempane

About 115.6 hectares of farmlands at Tempane and its environs in the Upper East Region have been submerged following a torrential rainfall that caused the Tamne Irrigation Dam and its major tributaries to overflow their banks. The havoc, which also partially destroyed about seven houses at Tempane, has affected some communities at Garu and Pusiga Districts and over 200 residents and crops such as maize, rice, millet and groundnuts among others that were destroyed.
