President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be the ultimate decider of people who will be appointed Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has said. Lady conceals firearm in food; attempts to smuggle it into police cell

The vigilance of a police officer on duty at the Cantonment Police Station in Accra has foiled an attempt by a young lady to smuggle a firearm and ammunition into the police cell Sunday July 11. According the police, the young lady, aged about 23 years with a Nigerian accent came to the charge office with two packs of Papaye-labeled fast food to be served on a robbery remand prisoner in the cells. The duty officer suspected something fishy with the parcel and went a step further to thoroughly inspect the food package. General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has asked the former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, to refund allowances paid to her between January 2009 and June 2021. The call by the governing NPP’s General Secretary follows the decision by the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, to refund allowances given to her from state coffers from January 2017 to date, amounting to ¢899,097.84. Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Awal, Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture, on Monday launched the National Tourism Destination Single Window project ’ “VisitGHANA” App, dedicated to streamlining the services and operations of the Ghanaian tourism industry. It is an all-in-one app and platform, dedicated to service quality across the tourism value chain.
