Kumasi: Robbers shoot businessmen, bolt with gold, cash

Two businessmen have been shot and robbed of their gold and money at Manso-Mosekrom in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti region. Per eyewitnesses’ account, four armed robbers stormed the area, Thursday dawn, for a gold heist. They are said to have approached a gold dealer identified as Nana Bronya and robbed him at gunpoint, before compelling him to lead them to three other business partners. Nana, under duress, was said to have led the robbers to other gold dealers identified as Daniel and Kwabena Jnr who were also robbed of their jewels. Another gold dealer, Everland, was robbed of GHS 20,000 after he revealed he had no gold whatsoever. FDA fines Shoprite, closes down meat section for mislabeling imported chicken

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), has fined Shoprite for selling imported chicken as locally produced ones to unsuspecting customers. This follows the closure of the meat section of the shop at Accra Mall after investigations revealed that the company thaws imported frozen chicken and labels it as locally produced fresh chicken for sale. One arrested over forex bureau robbery incident at Osu

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested one person involved in a robbery incident at Osu in Accra. Two armed robbers were reported to have broken into a forex bureau opposite the headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service close to the Police headquarters on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Viral videos of the robbery incident showed the burglars indiscriminately firing shots during their operation in the full glare of bystanders. The Accra Regional Police Command says efforts are underway to arrest the prime suspect in the case of a 23-year-old student of GH Media School in Accra. Priscilla Tsegah was allegedly stabbed to death in a hotel room. The Medical Superintendent of the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital has revealed that Doctors at the facility are forced to operate with rechargeable lamps and torchlights due to the unavailability of a standby generator. The Mother and Child Hospital located in the Awutu Senya East constituency was commissioned last year but without a generator forcing Doctors and Nurses at the facility to resort to the use of mobile phone light for deliveries and operations during power outages. AG Orders Police To Charge Kasoa Teenage Killers With Conspiracy, Murder

The Attorney General (AG) has directed the Police to charge the two teenagers who allegedly killed 11- year old Ishmael Mensah, at Kasoa, with conspiracy and murder. Nicholas Kini and Eric Nyarko reportedly killed Mensah in April this year for ritual purposes at Lamptey Mills, near Kasoa. Australia recommends AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine only for people over 60

Australia will recommend AstraZeneca (AZN.L) COVID-19 vaccines only for people aged 60 years and over, while Pfizer (PFE.N) shots will be offered to others, Health Minister Greg Hunt said on Thursday.
