Samuel Boadu rewrites Hearts of Oak’s wrong to his own credit

Coach Samuel Boadu leaves Medeama

Matchday 12 he leads Medeama to inflict a painful 1-0 defeat  to Hearts of Oak at Tarkwa.

In Matchday  29 he leads Hearts  of Oak to hammer a 2-0 defeat to Medeama at the Accra Sports Stadium.

That is the story of Coach Samuel  Boadu who left SC Medeama  to join Accr Hearts of Oak.

On Sunday he fulfilled  a task by rewarding each team according  to their work.

His team at Medeama  could hit Kosta Papic’s Hearts of Oak a painful  1-0 defeat  after the Phobians had suffered a 2-0 beating in the hands of Great Olympics.

But he crosses carpet to Accra and three months  later he pays Medeama  back  with one additional  goal.

Beating Medeama  2-0 was highly  expected from a team aiming  to end  12 years of trophy drought under a coach who has spent enough time in his previous office  at Tarkwa.

Sunday’s game defied football dominance as Medeama won  possession but Hearts won the game.

Team talisman  Salifu Ibrahim  shot the Phobians into the lead in the 40th minutes but was Afutu’ s 58th minutes header which gave the Phobians  the cushioning needed for famous  victory.

In the 2019/20 season his Medeama were on top of the league, looking so good to win the ultimate until the Covid-19 won the war to get the league  cancelled.

He is now at helm at Hearts of Oak and once again finds himself at the top of the league, looking even better to win it for the first time to his own credit, and, even more unexpectedly, for the first time in 12 years for the for African Champions.

Samuel Boadu needed to win on Sunday to satisfy whatever reason that may have caused his sudden exit from Medeama and no wonder  he hailed his players for remaining  “tactically disciplined” for the sweet  victory.

The win has further brightened Hearts’ chances of winning the league title and Boadu had a lot of praises for his players at the final whistle.

They have opened a 3-point lead at the top of the table though second-placed Asante Kotoko have a game in hand to honour on Monday afternoon.
