Liverpool plan to open new contract talks with both Alisson Becker and Fabinho as soon as the pair return for pre-season training.
The Brazilian duo are just over two years away from the expiry of the deals they signed upon arriving at the club in the summer of 2018.
And the ECHO understands that the Reds are keen to tie both down to fresh terms before the start of next season.
Alisson has kept 57 clean sheets in his 130 appearances for the club since signing from Italian giants AS Roma three years ago.
Fabinho, too, played a key role in that late-season push for Champions League football, performing impressively after being restored to his preferred midfield position.
Jurgen Klopp’s side would not have been within striking distance of the top four during the run-in were it not for the 27-year-old’s contributions as a makeshift centre-back across a season defined by injuries in that position.
The tournament is now scheduled to take place in Brazil, but a June 13 start date is also under threat from the pandemic.
Privately, Liverpool would no doubt welcome a cancellation that would give not only Fabinho and Alisson but also Roberto Firmino the summer off after a gruelling campaign.
But, whether their return to Kirkby for pre-season is delayed or not, two of the Reds’ Brazilian contingent are in line for a deserved reward when they do eventually report.
