Armed Robbers Attack gold merchant, 4 injured

A Gold merchant, Derrick Appau, 27, and three other persons have been injured in an alleged robbery attack. The attack allegedly occurred on Sunday 9th May, 2021, at Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region. According to sources, the merchant during the attack was robbed of GH₵25,000. The two armed robbers according to an eyewitness report were in a smock and had two AK47 rifles, shooting indiscriminatingly at the gold shop area injuring four persons. The injured persons include Simon Nuamah, 25, Amo, 40, and Akua Sonah, 39. The Police Regional PRO, ASP Kwami Loh, said the four injured persons including the merchant are responding to treatment at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem. HIV/AIDs cases on the rise in Ada – Health Director

The number of HIV/AIDS cases being recorded in the Ada District is on the rise, with the district recording a prevalence rate of 1.9 per cent higher than the national prevalence rate of 1.7 per cent. Dr Kofi Boakye, Director of Health in Ada East said the District recorded 1,674 HIV cases in 2019 adding that 598 cases were recorded among the males and 1,076 cases were recorded among females who were between the ages of 0 to 80. He said the virus was most prevalent among the ages of 0 to 15 as they recorded 1,547 saying that the males recorded 133 and 1014 among the female population in the Ada East District. For failing to meet a 14-day ultimatum to replace a statue he destroyed, the Children of late Prince Yao Boateng have sued the New Juaben Traditional Council, its paramount chief and the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly. The suit is scheduled for next Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the Koforidua High Court. Notorious armed robber arrested in Tema

Police have confirmed arresting a notorious armed robber, Musah Adamu, also known as Adams, at his Tema hideout. The 25-year-old was arrested on Wednesday, May 5 2021 following a tip-off. According to a police statement, Adams had been on their radar since November last year when he engaged in suspected robbery activity at Tema industrial area. He escaped leaving behind his mobile phone and an unregistered motorbike which were retrieved by the police, the statement added. The police said Adamu and his gang specialise in the use of industrial cutters, grinders, heavy-duty hammers and equipment to break into banks, companies and warehouses.
