Tony bebli officially joins itv as head of sports/Ag. Production manager

Ace Sports journalist Anthony Bebli known in media as Tony Bebli has joined Kasoa based television station ITV. Mr Bebli joins the media network as head of Sports and Production Manager. He joins ITV with rich experience gained from well established media houses in the country. He is currently the General manager of Kasoa based third divison side Five Star football club. Mr Bebli has in the past worked with multimedia group as online news editor and Producer before moving to Star FM where he held the online news editor position.

President Akufo-Addo Accepts Kissi Agyebeng’s Nomination As Special Prosecutor; Seeks Parliamentary Approval

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has accepted the nomination of Mr. Kissi Agyebeng as Special Prosecutor, and has by letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, dated 29th April 2021, sought Parliament’s approval of the appointment. It will be recalled that President Akufo-Addo accepted the resignation from office of Mr. Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor on 16th November 2020, and, in accordance with section 13(8) of the Office of Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959), is required to appoint a replacement within six (6) months of the position becoming vacant. 400 extra soldiers deployed to fight galamsey

The Ghana Armed Forces has deployed an extra 400 military officers to intensify the fight against illegal mining on river bodies. In a statement signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, this constitutes the second phase of Operation Halt, aimed at removing all persons and logistics involved in mining on water bodies. The new phase of the Operation will focus on the tributaries of the Pra River which have also been significantly affected by activities of illegal miners. The Ghana Armed Forces has also started armed patrols along the Pra River, the statement added. Late in April, 200 soldiers were deployed to galamsey-prone areas as part of the renewed national fight against galamsey. Source: 3news.com

Accra: Ban on drumming and noise making begins May 10

The annual ban on drumming and noise-making in Accra will this year begin on May 10, according to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA). A Press Statement issued by the AMA has indicated that the police in collaboration with an identifiable task force will be deployed to ensure that the ban is observed and help prevent clashes between the traditional authorities and other people. “Apart from an identifiable task force that consists of AMA personnel, the Ghana Police Service and Representatives from the Traditional Councils with tags, no other person or group of persons should be seen or found enforcing the abatement of noise in the metropolis,” the statement said. No COVID-19 infections recorded among prison inmates – Bawumia

About 3,297 prison officers and inmates with underlining health conditions have so far been vaccinated in prisons in Accra, Greater Kumasi, Northern and Western regions, Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed. They include 2,161 officers and 1,136 prison inmates. Dr Bawumia who was addressing the graduation of the intake 28 of the officer cadets of the Ghana Prisons Service in Accra today (May 7, 2021) said it was gratifying that as of today (May 7, 2021) none of the inmates that were in custody before the onset of the COVID-19 had contracted the disease. He described the feat as remarkable and expressed appreciation to all the agencies of the criminal justice system for collaborating to ensure the prisions were fully protected from the menace of the disease.

In commemoration of the May 9, 2001 Accra Sports Stadium disaster, the Ghana Football Association has directed that a minute’s silence should be observed before the commencement of all league matches this weekend. The Association has also asked all Premier League, Division One and Women’s League Clubs to wear black arm bands in honour of the soccer fans who lost their lives in the stadium disaster. Student whipped 25 times at St. Stephens SHS despite law against it

A teacher at St. Stephens Senior High and Technical School (STEPSS) in Akyem Asiakwa near Kyebi in the Eastern Region has given a male student 25 strokes with a cane for assaulting another student. A leaked video captured the teacher identified only as Sir Amable whipping the student who was only wearing shorts and lying in a push-up position in the open while other students were watching.
