Asante Kotoko transfer ban lifted

Asante Kotoko transfer ban lifted

The Player status committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has lifted the one year transfer ban imposed on Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

This was confirmed by the club’s David Obeng Nyarko who serves as personal assistant to the club’s CEO.

The Porcupine Warriors led by head coach Abulai Gazale and Johnson Smith can now make purchases to augment their squad in the ongoing Ghana Premier league.

Asante Kotoko were handed a transfer ban in January this year which prevented them from buying new players but the decision has now been overturned allowing the Kumasi based club sign new players.

Kotoko were found to have breached players’ contracts on numerous counts by the Ghanaian football Association but the club always protested their innocence.

The club appealed the decision by the Player Status Committee and have now come to this decision which serves as a huge boost to Johnson Smith.

Kotoko will now be able to sign front line recruits, with a new striker a priority for manager Johnson Smith.

The second window opened on February 16 and will shut at 11:59 pm on Thursday, March 18, 2021.
