The Rebecca Foundation has commissioned the newly re-built Adetim D/A KG and Primary School in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region after the project was abandoned for twenty- nine (29) years. The dilapidated facility which had served the community for a long time was reconstructed following various appeals by the Chiefs and People of Adetim since 1992. Man paraded for allegedly sleeping with sheep

A young boy [name withheld] is devastated after accusations of having sexual intercourse with a sheep at Asante Akyem. Now 21 years old, the suspect was paraded by the traditional council’s committee set up to investigate the allegations made by the victim’s friend and long-distance grandfather. According to the sole witness of the incident, he was on his way to attend nature’s call when he heard a strange noise from the sheep’s pen. The increasing noise and disarray, he said, triggered his curiosity to ‘storm’ the pen, only to find the suspect pants down. Kotoko to return to Baba Yara Sports stadium in March – NSA boss

The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi has revealed that the renovation of the Baba Yara Sports stadium will be completed in March. The stadium which is the home ground for Ghana Premier League giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been shut down since February last year for revamping. Kotoko as a result have had to use the Accra Sports Stadium as their home grounds and CEO for the club, Nana Yaw Amponsah pleaded with the government to speed up the process to enable the team return to their home venue. The International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation (INBAR) has opened a Bamboo Common Production Training Centre (CPTC) at Obogu in the Asante-Akim South District, to provide technical/ capacity building support for the artisans. The CPTC concept, an innovative approach to ensuring the availability of processing machines and equipment for use by bamboo artisans, is being implemented under the Inter-Africa Smallholder Livelihood Development Programme by the INBAR. The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS), a subsidiary of the Bank of Ghana, and partner institutions have embarked on public education to create awareness and to drive patronage of Ghana’s  Universal Quick Response code for payment. Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia launched the GhQR last year to add up to Ghana’s existing electronic payment channels as part of the larger cash-lite agenda. UHAS to start School of Sports, Exercise Medicine next academic year

Professor John Owusu Gyapong, the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), says the University would start its School of Sports and Exercise Medicine next academic year. He said the plan for a School of Dentistry was also ongoing and would add to existing Schools and Institutes of the University. Prof Gyapong was speaking during the University’s virtual Matriculation of 2,405 freshmen.  The University received 6,720 applications but could only admit 2,405 for the 2020/2021 academic year.
