President Akufo-Addo Congratulates New WTO Boss, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has congratulated Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her “historic” appointment as the new Director-General of the World Trade Organisation. Producer Price Inflation for January 2021 is 9.1 per cent

The year-on-year Producer Price Inflation (PPI) rate for January 2021, was up at 9.1 per cent compared to seven percent in December. The rate represents a 2.1 percentage point increase in producer inflation relative to the rate recorded in December 2020 (7.0 per cent). Professor Samuel Annim, the Government Statistician, who announced this in a virtual recording, said the month-on-month change in producer price index between December 2020 and January 2021 was 3.5 per cent. The Producer Price Inflation in the Mining and Quarrying sub-sector decreased by 4.1 percentage points over the December 2020 rate of 31.5 percent to record 27.4 percent in January 2021. Driver’s mate remanded over defilement

The Nkawie Circuit Court has remanded a 23-year-old driver’s mate into prison custody for defiling a six-year-old girl at Denkyemuoso, in the Kwadaso Municipality. The plea of Osei Kwame was deferred to March 03 this year to enable the police conduct further investigations. Detective Inspector Francis Opoku told the court presided by Mr Johnson Abbey that the complainant was the grandmother of the victim and they lived in the same vicinity with the suspect at Denkyemouso. He said in January this year, the suspect lured the victim into an uncompleted building and had sexual intercourse with her and warned her not to tell anybody. Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has jabbed rapper Yaa Pono in a twitter post share on his official social media page. Pono in a way to light up the music industry took to his twitter page called for a lyrical beef with Shatta Wale who known to be the King in lyrical war. But in a reply to his request, the "Ayoo" hitmaker subtly jabbed the rapper by saying he won't give free hype to any underground artiste anymore. Many believe the reply will spark another beef between the two musicians and their fan base. The two have in the past engaged in a lyrical war which setup endless debates among their fans. Employers have been called on to respect the rights of workers and allow them to enjoy public holidays or pay for extra hours in lieu of them. Management of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in the Western Region has begun rationing water in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis due to the low level of water at the treatment plant.
