Central Region to get a second COVID-19 Testing Centre

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) says a second Coronavirus Testing Centre will soon be set up in the Central Region to augment its work. Dr Kwabena Sarpong, Deputy Director in-charge of Public Health for the Region, said the facility would significantly ease delays and challenges associated with COVID-19 testing as samples were sometimes sent to Accra, Kumasi or Takoradi. Dr Sarpong said this when the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with the Ridge Royal Hotel, donated quantities of cocoa products to the Regional COVID-19 Respond Team. The items were to be supplied to COVID-19 patients and people on the frontline to boost their immune system. CEO of FOCUS1 Group gives to Sekondi Prisons

The Chief Executive Officer of Focus1 Group of Companies has donated items worth over GH¢20,000.00 to the Sekondi Prisons as part of the Valentine’s Day celebrations. The items included food stuff, 600 pieces of alcohol-based hand sanitisers, 600 pieces of nose masks, two Thermometer Guns, 20 boxes of Vitamin C Tablets and 600 boxes of Zinc Tablets to be shared among the  694 inmates of the Prisons. The donation, an annual event, has seen inmates of the Sekondi Prisons benefitted from bags of maize, gari and rice, toothbrushes, drinks and slippers, among others for the past 11 years. Tourism Authority supplies chocolate products to Effia Nkwanta Hospital

The Western Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism  Authority has presented chocolate products to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional hospital as part of activities to mark Valentine's day celebration. Mr George Nkrumah Ansere, the Western Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority, said the donation was to show patients love and to remind them that the world outside, still had them in mind. The hospital received assorted cocoa products such as chocolate bars and Brown gold cocoa powder. He said Cocoa had good medicinal components and also acted as an immune booster. Madam Mavis Atta Gyamfi, a staff nurse, received the donation on behalf of the hospital and commended the Ministry of Tourism for the kind gesture.

The technical team of the Black Stars have decided to excuse Asante Kotoko’s players from the first week of training to afford them ample time to prepare for their Confederation Cup tie in Algeria. The Porcupine Warriors will travel to Setif, this week for their CAF Confederation Cup 2nd leg final eliminator against Entente Setif on Sunday. Coach Akonnor handed invitation to six Asante Kotoko boys, namely, Razak Abalora, Yussif Mubarik and Ganiyu Ismail. The rest are Christopher Nettey, Ibrahim Moro and Kwame Opoku. Aside the players, goalkeeper’s trainer Issah Najawu and Masseur, S.K Ankomah have also been excused.
