Armed robbers attack ambulance, shoot driver

The Yilo Krobo Constituency Ambulance with registration Number GV 644-20 on route from Akuse Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the early hours of Thursday 4th February, 2021 with a Mother in Labour who is having complications to the Regional hospital at Koforidua was attacked and Robbed at Adukrom. The driver of the National Ambulance was shot in the head. Both the Mother in Labour and the Driver were rushed to Tetteh-Quarshie Memory Hospital after the sad incident but because of the critical State of the driver's injury, he was further referred to Koler Bu Teaching Hospital for specialist care. Police has commenced with investigation into the sad incident. Stay tuned for more updates.

Court orders Senior Staff Association of universities of Ghana to call off strike

The National Labour Commission (NLC) on Wednesday secured an Interlocutory injunction from the High Court, Labour Division, against the Senior Staff Association of the Universities of Ghana (SSA-UOG).  The injunction said the staff include; Executives, Officers, Members, Agents, Servants, Employees or Other Persons. A statement issued by the Commission said the Court further ordered that the above-mentioned persons were to comply with the directive of the NLC issued on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. The Court also urged the Association to call off the strike action immediately, and that the parties should go back to the negotiation table to negotiate in good faith on the non-basic allowance and when the Tier 2 Pension arrears would be paid. Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan says he has lost respect for Accra-based radio station Joy FM and struck them out of his "list". In a furious Twitter post, Ghana's record scorer said the radio station must "Learn how to respect". He posted: "I have lost Respect for you guys. From today, @Joy997FM is out on my list. You should be ashamed of your self. Learn how to respect. Smh" His outburst came hours after the radio station in a tweet asked Ghanaians if Gyan's famous penalty miss at the 2010 FIFA World Cup still hurts them.

Koforidua Regional hospital to establish a kidney dialysis centre

Dr Arko Akoto-Ampaw, Medical Director of the Eastern Regional Hospital, has stressed the need for a kidney dialysis centre to be established at the Regional hospital to scale up healthcare services.      According to the Medical Director, the dialysis centre would provide access to such critical healthcare service to many people in the Eastern Region and parts of the Volta region, who had no option but to travel to Accra and elsewhere for such services.      He said even though the construction of the 600-bed New Regional hospital in Koforidua, had factored it in the plan, "for the time being the need for such a centre has become relevant with the covid-19 pandemic which aggravates the situation of people with renal conditions".    Dr ...

COCOBOD to appear before Parliament on cocoa payment

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) is to appear before Parliament over non-payment to cocoa farmers through their respective Licensed Buying Companies (LBC) for the period of the 2020/21 crop season. First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu gave the directive in a reaction, after a statement by Mr Kofi Adams, MP for Buem, and contributions on the statement by Members, on the plight of cocoa farmers in cocoa growing areas in Ghana, for not receiving payments. Some customers of Chy Mall Company, a Chinese online trading business have expressed surprised at cautions from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to the public against doing business with the Company. Election Petition: We don’t have all the documents in our custody- Marietta Appiah-Oppong

Madam Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, a spokesperson for the Petitioner in the 2020 Presidential Election Petition has said all the documents they seek to inspect are not in their custody. She said the Petitioner, former President John Dramani Mahama disagreed with the Supreme Court ruling on the fact that all the documents they sought were in their custody and therefore they were not entitled to it.
