President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo visited the Central Mosque at Abossey Okine in Accra to give thanks to God for granting him and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) victory in the December 7 general elections.
The President was accompanied by his Vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Mrs Samira Bawumia, and some leading members of the NPP.
President Akufo-Addo said before the election, he visited the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, and asked him to pray to God for a peaceful election and another victory for the NPP
“We are here today to render our humble thanks to the Chief Imam and the Almighty,” President Akufo-Addo said and added that the Chief Imam’s prayer for a peaceful election and victory for the party had been granted by the Almighty.
The President appealed to Ghanaians to make deliberate efforts to maintain the unity and stability of the country.
Vice President Bawumia also thanked the Chief Imam for his prayers and guidance throughout the process and stressed the need for Ghanaians to maintain the peace and unity of the country.
He appealed to Ghanaians to support the President to realize his vision of prosperity for all Ghanaians.
Sheikh Sharubutu, on his part, urged Ghanaians to continue to live in peace, harmony and love for one another.
“As practitioners of different faiths, we should continue to live in peace and harmony. There is disharmony and political instability in other nations but we are still enjoying the peace,” the Chief Imam said and appealed to Ghanaians not to take the country’s peace and stability for granted.
He prayed for the President and the government and for God’s continuous blessings for the country and urged Ghanaians to show gratitude to the Almighty for his mercies.
