Fire guts Fomena EC office after independent candidate’s win

The Fomena District Electoral office in the Ashanti Region was gutted by fire early on Tuesday morning. The fire started shortly after the declaration of the constituency results which confirmed that the dismissed New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, had won the polls as an independent candidate. The opposition National Democratic Congress has recaptured the Akwatia Parliamentary seat from the ruling New Patriotic Party.
