Liverpool denied by VAR in derby draw with Everton

Champions Liverpool were foiled by VAR as they were held to a 2-2 Premier League derby draw with Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday after a late effort from Jordan Henderson was ruled out. Everton remained top of the table on 13 points, three ahead of Liverpool, after an incident-packed end to the 237th Merseyside derby. The game was locked at 2-2 after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s 10th goal of the season in all competitions had brought Everton level in the 81st minute. But in stoppage time, Thiago Alcantara found Sadio Mane with a clever pass and the Senagalese’s low cross was turned in by Henderson, only for VAR to find the narrowest of offsides. Asante Kotoko capture Latif Anabila

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have confirmed the signing midfielder Abdul Latif Anabila ahead of the new season. The club announced the deal on Saturday after the player had completed his mandatory medicals. Latif Anabila signed a three year contract with the club which will see him feature for the Reds till the end of the 2023 season. The player had in the past played for New Edubiase and Ashantigold before moving to the Porcupine Warriors. He was a member of coach Maxwell Konadu's Black Stars B side which placed second in the tournament held in Senegal.

NPP’s Yapei Kusowgu parliamentary candidate dies in car crash

The New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Yapei Kusowgu constituency in the Savannah Region, Abu Kamara has died in a fatal road accident. According to the Savannah Regional NPP Director of Communications, Mohammed Issah, the car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with an articulator truck at the Datoyili police barrier on the outskirts of Tamale.  He is reported to have died on the spot with an aide, Majeed Kotochi (Young chief) and another occupant of the car.

Ministry of Tourism to preserve legacy of W.E.B. Du Bois

The Government, through the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the W.E.B Du Bois Museum Foundation to develop, rebrand, operate and manage the Du Bois Centre to preserve its legacy.       The partnership is aimed at transforming the Memorial Centre into a Museum Complex that would honour and help preserve the Pan-African culture, legacy of W.E.B Du Bois. The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), a non-governmental organisation, has called on girls to avoid early sex to enhance their health and ability to achieve their dreams. Mrs Wilhemina Aklaku, the President of PPAG, made the call during this year’s International Day of the Girl Child celebration. Audio recordings of NDC Chairman was subjected to forensic analysis- Investigator

An alleged audio recording of Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Chairman, National Democratic Congress (NDC), and others, was sent to Israel Forensic Science Institute for forensic examination. Chief Inspector Bernard Berkoh, the case investigator, told an Accra High Court that he sent the audio for the examination after he had obtained a copy of the audio recording from an Accra radio station known as Adom FM. Chief Inspector Berkoh, the third prosecution witness, said he also obtained another audio recording from TV3. According to him, when Ampofo was granted Police enquiry bail, he granted audience to some party faithful who had converged at the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters in Accra.
