GFA Mourns With Families Of Offinso Accident Victims

Executives of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), on Thursday, October 01, 2020, joined scores of mourners and families of the seven juvenile footballers who lost their lives in the Offinso road accident some weeks ago. The seven boys, namely, Ofori Amanfo Ramsey, Alex Agyemang, Antwi Richmond, Abdulai Jamal, Hubert Anaba, Boakye Samuel and Kwame Opoku were on their way from a juvenile screening exercise at a registration centre at Afrancho, near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. Government to honour Offinso Accident victims with a new stadium

The Government of Ghana is set to honor the eight young footballers who tragically lost their lives on the Offinso river with a new stadium. This will serve as a remembrance of the young footballers who died after the minibus they were travelling in crashed into the Offinso River last month. The young lads were on their way back from a juvenile screening exercise at a registration centre in Afrancho, near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. The Registrar-General’s Department says it will not receive new Company Registration applications from clients between Thursday,  October 1, 2020 and Friday, October 2, 2020. The temporary hold on applications is to pave way for the testing and full operationalisation of the Department’s new electronic system effective Thursday, October 1, 2020. NAM 1 case adjourned to November 4

The Prosecution on Thursday, again asked for further adjournment in the case involving the Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as “NAM 1”. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sylvester Asare told the Accra Circuit Court presided over by Ms Ellen Asamoah that the prosecution was still waiting for advice from the Attorney-General’s Department. Currently, there are about 16,000 complaints in the matter.At the last court sitting, the Judge adjourned the matter at the instance of the prosecution. When the case was called on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, the State filed new charges against NAM 1.It, therefore, asked the Court not to take his plea as there would be further instructions. Volta REGSEC to hold consultative dialogue with key security Ministries

President Akufo-Addo Cuts Sod For Construction Of Kumasi-Obuasi Railway Line

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has cut the sod for work to commence on the 83.5-kilometre standard gauge railway line from Kumasi to Obuasi, as part of the new Western Line being constructed. Performing the sod cutting ceremony, on Wednesday, 30th September 2020, President Akufo-Addo noted that, by January 2017, out of the 947 kilometres of colonial narrow-gauge rail network bequeathed to the country by the colonialists, barely 10% was operational.
