Western Togoland billboard pulled down

The strange spectacle of billboard suspected to have been mounted by the Volta Separatists group, Western Togoland have been pulled down by the Somanya Divisional police command.

The billboard which was mounted at Akorley near Somanya had the inscription, “Welcome to Western Togoland” on one side when heading towards Somanya from Accra and “You are leaving Western Togoland” when heading to Accra.

Confirming in a telephone interview, the Somanya Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Isaac Ostin said no arrest had been made.

However, he said a 24-hour surveillance have been mounted by the police to bring the perpetrators to book.

He urged the public not to provide all important information to the police for the arrest of the perpetrators.

One Samuel, a resident whose house is located next to the billboard suspected that the perpetrators undertook the illegal act either during the night or wee hours of Thursday as the board was not mounted as at 6: 00 pm on Wednesday.
