Bawumia commissions Infectious Diseases Treatment Centre at 37 Military Hospital

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has commissioned and handed over an ultra-modern Infectious Diseases Treatment Centre at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. Originally conceived in 2014 at the height of the Ebola crisis, the 25-bed facility, which also houses a Command Centre to coordinate the activities of isolation centres across the country and a Health Surveillance Unit, began in April 2019 and completed after 10 months at a cost of GH₵4.8m. Registrar-General cautions prospective clients against middlemen

Mrs Jemima Oware, the Registrar-General has cautioned prospective clients of the Registrar General’s Department to be wary of the activities of middlemen and to avoid their services. She said the Department had put in place measures to control activities of the middlemen, who allegedly collected monies from prospective applicants in the pretext of helping them to register their companies. Ghana Cocoa Board signs $1.3billion syndicated loan for 2020/21 cocoa purchases

Ghana Cocoa Board on Tuesday signed a $1.3 billion syndicated loan agreement with local and international banks for the purchase of cocoa for the 2020/21 season. Parliament in August approved the syndicated loan, which comes with an interest rate of 1.75 per cent.It was the first time that the agreement had to be signed virtually with the 24 international banks and four local ones because of the coronavirus pandemic. The International banks include Amro Bank, Bank of China Limited in London, Standard Chartered Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Ghana International Bank, Cooperative Rabobank, UA and Societe General.
