Thirty Ghanaian referees to undergo fifa elite course

The Referees Committee of the Ghana Football Association in consultation with the Assessors and Classification Panel have approved a list of Thirty Referees for next month’s FIFA/MA ELITE Online Course. The FIFA course will run from 30th September to 2nd October 2020. The list includes Twenty FIFA Referee and Ten Class One Referees. GFA Physical Instructors, Anthony Tetteh-Opae, Augustine Fugah and Vivian Aggor who are responsible for the Training Theory and the fitness of referees and their training will be in charge of the physical and endurance test of these referee. GFA to receive 100 footballs from CAF

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has decided to support member Associations with one hundred (100) footballs for use by Associations as match balls. As a result, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will be a beneficiary of this gesture as the continental football governing body, work to support member Associations via the FIFA Forward programme. This was communicated to the GFA on Thursday, August 13, 2020 in a letter by CAF. “In light with CAF efforts to support its National Associations, CAF has the pleasure to inform you that it has been decided to provide 100 match balls to each Member Association". the letter said. Spanish giants FC Barcelona have parted ways with head coach Quique Satien. The new coach will be announced in the coming days as part of a wide ranging restructuring of the first team fc barcelona. AfCFTA will increase Africa’s trade volumes by US$35 billion annually

Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the Minister of Trade and Industry, has said the operationalisation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is estimated to increase intra African trade by US$35billion annually or 52 per cent by 2022. Additionally, it would address the challenges of small fragmented markets in Africa by creating a single market, which would lead to economies of scale. Mr Kyerematen, who said this when he addressed dignitaries at the official commissioning and handing over of the AfCFTA Secretariat Building in Accra on Monday, said the successful implementation of the AfCFTA would bring many benefits to the Continent. A marketing consultant who administered multiple fist blows to his 11-year old son's cheek resulting in the loss of his   tooth has been sentenced to a fine of GHC 3,600.00 by an Accra Circuit court. Christopher Ayittey, 30, in default would serve a six-month jail term.Charged with physical abuse, Ayittey pleaded not guilty but the court presided over by Mrs Christina Cann, found him guilty at the end of the trial. COVID-19 death toll rises to 239

Ghana’s COVID-19 death toll Monday, surged to 239 from a previous 231, following the confirmation of eight new deaths in five regions across the country by the Ghana Health Service. The deceased, all but three had underlying health conditions including hypertension, Retroviral Infection, chronic kidney disease and diabetes mellitus, among others. The latest update as provided by the country's health management body, via a designated website however, showed a further decline in the country's active cases to 1,847 from a 1,939, as at Sunday, August 16. An unemployed teenager who was before the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a four year-old kindagarten girl at Debiasem in the Suaman District has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in hard labour. Kwaku Mensah, 18, was said to have sexually abused the victim in a cocoa farm when she was sent by her mother to deliver a bowl of maize to him.Mensah pleaded guilty to the offence of defilement. 18-year-old boy commits suicide at Assin-Akropong

An 18-year-old Junior High School (JHS) three student has committed suicide at Akropong in the Assin Central Municipality of the Central Region. The deceased, Paa Kwabena was found hanging on a nylon sponge tied around his neck at 0630 hours on Saturday, August 15 in a room of the family house. According to Madam Afia Tinkoranmaa, the deceased’s sister, his brother showed no sign of worry.
