Ghanaians to use Ghana Card numbers as TIN for business transactions next year

The Government, through the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has begun processes to convert the National Identification numbers into Tax Identification numbers (TIN) to ensure easy payment of taxes. The move will allow Ghanaians to use their Ghana Card numbers to register their businesses and expected to shore up government revenue. This is expected to commence from January 2021, which would increase the number of taxpayers from less than three million to 16 million. Ecobank adopts measures to support customers

President commissions Greenhouse Estate Project and Entrepreneurship Innovation centre

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Thursday commissioned the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme's (NEIP) Greenhouse Estate Project and the Entrepreneurship Innovation Centre at the Dawhenya Irrigation site, near Accra. The Dawhenya project, with its 75 greenhouse domes, is part of a larger scheme by the NEIP to build 1000 green houses across the country boost government's flagship programme- Planting for Food and Jobs- aimed at ensuring food security and modernizing agriculture to make it attractive to the youth. The 75 greenhouse domes had a production capacity of 4,500 tons of tomatoes annually, and an estimated yearly revenue of some 11 million cedis. It would employ a total of 230 people. Parts of Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) office, located at Sapeiman in the Ga West Municipality, have been gutted by fire. The incident happened in the early hours of Friday, August 14. The Sapeiman office serves as the Regional Office of the election management body. The inferno, which started around 2.30am, according to reports, destroyed several property belonging to the Commission.
