Government made strides in educational sector-Minister

Government has made education a top priority by providing the requisite tools to enhance teaching and learning since taking over office in 2016, Dr Mathew Opoku-Prempeh, the Minister of Education said. Dr Opoku-Prempeh said government was poised to give a level playing field to all Ghanaian children, and as such the President Akufo-Addo had charged all appointees to deliver on the promise made to Ghanaians. Muslims the world over to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on July 31 amidst pandemic

Muslims across the world will be celebrating the Eid-ul-Adha tomorrow, July 31, to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim, or Abraham who obeyed Allah's command to sacrifice his only son, Ismael. The celebrations, also known as "Festival of Sacrifice" is the second of the two Islamic festivities which is celebrated annually worldwide. This is the day where Muslim families and friends unite to pray together and also give alms, especially in the form of sacrificed animal meat. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's celebration cannot be observed with its normal characteristics such as picnics. Parliament approves US$200 million for Ghana Jobs and Skills Project

Parliament has approved a US$200 million financing agreement between the Government of Ghana and the International Development Association (IDA) to finance the Ghana Jobs and Skills Project (GJSP). The project, which is being financed with credit from the IDA would be implemented over a six-year period and is expected to close on 30th June, 2026. The terms and conditions of the credit facility include the loan amount of US$200 million, Repayment period of 25 years, grace period of five years, maturity period of 30 years and interest charge of 1.35 percent per annum. Ghana’s national chess team to compete in Chess Olympiad

Ghana National Chess team is set to participate in the first-ever Online Chess Olympiad organized by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) from 24th July to 30th August 2020. Ghana would play from 31st July to 2nd August in Pool E alongside nine other countries including top-ranked Angola, Liberia, Senegal, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Palestine, Suriname, Netherlands, and Togo.
