Akufo-Addo Ends Covid-19 Self-Isolation; Test Still Negative

President Akufo-Addo has completed his two weeks coronavirus related self-isolation. Accordingly, the President is still Covid-19 negative. Mr Akufo-Addo has since July 4, 2020 been in self-isolation at the Presidential Villa of the Jubilee House. He went into self-isolation after he was exposed to coronavirus following a positive test of one member of his inner circle. —Daily Guide

One dead in Budumburam shooting

A 29-year old man died from gunshot wounds after police tried to disarm him for terrorising residents with cutlass at the Budumburam Taxi Rank in the early hours of Saturday. DSP Irene Oppong, Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said the man was shot in the leg and on the left arm by the Police in an attempt to disarm him when he attempted to attack the police with a weapon. She explained that on Saturday, July 18, at about 0330 hours, the Kasoa Divisional Police received a distress call that a young man armed with two cutlasses was terrorising residents at the Gomoa Budumburam Taxi Station. Parliament approves US$2.068million tax waiver on inputs under 1D1F

Parliament has approved a total of $2.068million tax waiver on machinery, equipment and raw materials to be procured by three companies under the One District One Factory (1D1F) Programme of the Government of Ghana. The companies are Accum Energy Ghana Limited, Vester Oil Mills Limited and Ada Premium Diaper Care Limited. The request is for the waiver of Import Duty, Import NHIL, Import GETFund Levy, Import VAT and EXIM Levy amounting to US$1,208,404.00 for Accum Energy Ghana Limited, US$814,874.00 for Vester Oil Mills Limited and US$44,990.00 for Ada Premium Diaper Care Limited on machinery, equipment and raw materials to be procured by the three companies respectively.
