Former Asante Kotoko striker Saddick Adams has revealed that he was surprised the team bus was not insured before it was involved in the gory July 12 2017 accident at Nkawkaw.
The Reds on their way home from a week 22 Ghana premier league game against Inter Allies played at the El Wak Sports Stadium, the team bus was involved in an accident taking the life of equipment officer Thomas Obeng Asare and leaving many players injured.
Three years after the accident, former player of the side Saddick Adams says he was very surprised the team’s bus which carried them to both home and away games was not insured.
The former Ghana youth star made this revelation while speaking on the Anopa Bosuo Sports on BA Television in Sunyani.
“I was very surprised the Asante Kotoko bus was not insured, it meant our lives was at risk” he said.
Adding to that, former goalkeeper of the side and now coach of Baffour Soccer Academy Isaac Amoako called on the club to make player welfare their topmost priority
“Kumasi Asante Kotoko is a great club which you can not take for granted but sometimes they should take care of the welfare of the playing body” Isaac Amoako said.
Three years on, Asante Kotoko is yet to compensate members who were on board the bus despite receiving countless donations from fans, former players and corporate bodies.
