Over GH460 million squandered in 21 government Ministries, Department and Agencies

An amount of GH₵467,634,792 has been uncovered by the Auditor - General as payments to ghost names on public sector payroll in 21 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s). Agencies that were discovered to have authorized such payments included; the Local Government Service, Ministries of Finance, Communication, Education, Agriculture, Health, Information, Interior, Youth and Sport, Chieftaincy, Foreign Affairs and Roads and Highways, The rest are Justice and Attorney General, Environmental, Science, Technology and Innovation, Gender, Children and Social Protection, Tourism, Culture and relative Arts, Lands and Natural Resources, Trade and Industry, Local Government and Rural Development, and the Judicial Service. Report shows decline in travels in Ghana after lockdown

A Mobility analysis report has shown that population movements have changed since mobility restrictions were introduced and lifted, as part of the government’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The report released in Accra on Monday by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), Vodafone Ghana, and the Flowminder Foundation is the second in the series of the mobility analysis report. Parliament to consider 36 bills as it resumes sitting on Tuesday

Parliament is expected to consider over 36 bills as the House resumes sitting of the second meeting of the Fourth Session of the 7th Parliament on Tuesday. Key amongst them is the Affirmative Action Bill, 2020, National Ambulance amendment bill, 2020. The Greater Accra Regional Football Association has signed a two-year Television deal with Media 7 Network, a multi-broadcast service provider. Unemployed on GH¢85,000 bail over car fraud

An Accra Circuit Court on Monday granted a GH¢85,000.00 bail with three sureties to an unemployed man for defrauding a sound engineer of US$14,500 dollars under the pretext of securing him a Honda CRV vehicle. The Court ordered that two of the three sureties must be justified. The accused Kennedy Kumi is to report once a week to the police until the final determination of the case. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and defrauding by false pretense, but his plea was not taken by the court.He will make his next appearance on June 8. Two national security operatives have been arrested by the police for allegedly attempiting to take over the Kade Palace in the Eastern Region. “Using NBSSI to disburse GH600 million stimulus package to SMEs is wrong”-Alex Mould

A former Executive Director of Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Alex Mould, has urged government to discontinue the decision to use the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) to disburse the GH¢ 600million soft Loan stimulus package for Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The soft loans, which is under the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP), is intended to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the operations SMEs.
