Diabetes, Hypertension, the major cause of COVID 19 deaths in Ghana

Diabetes and hypertension have been identified as the major cause of COVID 19 deaths in Ghana.  According to statistics from the Ghana Health Service on the 28 COVID 19 related deaths in the country so far, more than 20 died from either hypertension, diabetes, or both.  Other causes are interstitial pulmonary disease, prostate enlargement, congestive cardiac failure, chronic liver disease, cerebrovascular accident, obesity, asthma, among others. From the data, the average age of the 28 victims is 55 years, with the youngest being a 9-year-old boy and the oldest, 81. It also revealed that about 17 of the COVID 19 related deaths are male. A team of Immigration officers on surveillance duties in the Western Region have arrested twelve Burkinabes and a Ghanaian at an unapproved entry point at Nzemtenu near Appollenu in the  Ivory Coast - Ghana border. A UK trial to see whether specialist medical sniffer dogs can detect coronavirus in humans is set to begin. The dogs are already trained to detect odours of certain cancers, malaria and Parkinson's disease by the charity Medical Detection Dogs.
