I was only disciplining my son-Man accused of assaulting a 3-year-old tells Court

The 26-year old father who subjected his 3-year-old son to a severe beating, told a Court in Kumasi that he did nothing wrong. Ebenezer Nana Bonsu was arrested for disfiguring the back of his son for bedwetting. He has been charged for causing harm and assault on the little boy He pleaded not guilty to the charges, explaining that he only meant to discipline his 3-year-old son. The accused, who was represented by lawyer Samuel Amofa Kodua, was expected to be remanded for two weeks, but the Judge said that due to the coronavirus pandemic, it would be harmful to remand him. His lawyer requested for a bail, indicating that his client has been in police custody since he was reported to the police. Ghanaian singer KiDi has been hit with an embarassment after he was sacked from a live radion interview for appearing late. Accra FM presenter Nana Romeo kicked singer out of his show after he arrived 35 minutes to the end of the show. The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Samuel, Ofosu Ampofo, has accused the ruling New Patrotic Party (NPP) of conspiring with the National Identification Authority (NIA) and the Electoral Commission (EC) to rig the December 7 polls. Explosion kills two, injured four in Yagaba.

Two persons have died instantly, and four others in critical conditions at Yagaba in the North East Region after a faulty tyre they were fixing exploded on Thursday afternoon.  The Member of Parliament for the area, Amadu Rauf Tanko, who confirmed the incident to the media said, the incident occurred while local vulcanizers were servicing the tyre of a long truck vehicle brought in to transport food supplies to Tamale. According to him, two mechanics died instantly at the scene when the blast hit and those wounded include the truck driver and two of his colleagues.  The victims , he indicates, have been taken to the Yagaba health facility for postmortem while those wounded  were to be referred to either Sandema or Walewale for further treatment.

Five nabbed for breaking border closure directive

Five Burkina Faso nationals have been arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for breaching President Akuffo-Addo’s border closure directive due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The offenders, all males, aged between 15 and 32, entered into Ghana through an unapproved route at Hamilie in the Lambussie District of the Upper West Region.
