Lifting of ban on social gathering is premature-NDC COVID 19 Technical Team tells gov’t

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it will be premature for the government to consider lifting the ban on social and public gathering imposed about 2 months ago to contain the spread of the coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic.  The NDC Technical Response Team, in a statement, said “any attempt to lift restrictions on all forms of public gatherings, in our view, is extremely premature and risky at this stage of the virus’ evolution in Ghana. The Ho central branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has presented food items worth GHC 4,375 to the Ho Zongo community in support of the Eid ul-Fitr celebrations. Coronavirus: Five players test positive across Spain’s top two divisions

Five players have tested positive for coronavirus across Spain's top two divisions, La Liga has said. The unnamed players are all asymptomatic and are now in isolation. They will continue to be tested and can only rejoin training when they return two consecutive negative results. La Liga started testing players last week as part of the protocols in place for training to resume and elite football in Spain to get going again behind closed doors in June. A number of clubs, including Barcelona, started individual training last week. Spain has been one of the worst hit countries in Europe with 26,621 deaths and 224,390 infections as of 10 May.

Don’t lift ban on social gathering-GMA tells gov’t, as President prepares to address the nation tonight on COVID 19.

The ban on public and social gatherings imposed by President Akufo-Addo as part of measures to stem the spread of the coronavirus (COVID 19) officially ends today, but the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) says the government must not lift the ban. The ban was first imposed on March 15 when the country recorded its first case on March 12. As a results, religious activities, schools, marriage ceremonies, funerals, conferences, among others, have since been suspended. The country has, in the past two months, recorded 4,263 COVID 19 cases, with 22 deaths and 378 recoveries. Greater Accra alone has recorded 3,641 cases.
