Asante Kotoko right-back, Christopher Nettey says he was confident when he joined the Porcupines but reveals he has extra motivation to succeed under Coach, Maxwell Konadu.
Nettey has become an instant hit in his debut Premier League season with the club despite joining the country’s best elite division club from lower-tier Attram de Visser.
Nettey’s defensive qualities are as flawless as his attacking threat down the flanks, becoming one of the club’s best performers in his 13 out of 14 Premier League starts this term.
Christopher Nettey tells Kotoko Express App he is self-confident and even more dreams to follow the footsteps of the quality right-backs that have graced the club in recent years.
“There is no club in Ghana that has produced more quality right-backs for the league and the Black Stars than Kotoko. Talk of Frank Amankwa, Aziz Ansah, Samuel Inkoom, Harrison Afful and very recently Amos Frimpong. I was stepping into big shoes when I joined and the zeal to live up to the quality shown by these legends motivates me a lot.”
“I am also very confident. I trust in my self and my qualities. Besides, I was stepping into a bigger club which has money and passionate supporters. They are the type that can make a player so comfortable when he performs well and otherwise when he does not. I wanted my story to be like the former and that also motivated me a lot.”22
