Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, says the Dansoman Branch of mobile communications giant, MTN, has been forced to shut down for not complying with social distancing protocols.
The Minister said the office will remain closed till management of the company makes arrangement to ensure proper social distancing at the Dansoman office in Accra.
When the minister got to the office premises of the company, a number of customers were sitting in a queue, waiting to be served.
They were sitting very close to each other, with no regards to the social distancing protocols
“They have been shut down and will not be allowed to operate till they have better arrangements in place”.
“Reputable corporate organizations like this should not be flouting the law and creating conditions for the virus to spread,” she said in a post on facebook.
“Other communications sector companies better take note and comply or else….” She added
The social distancing regulations were introduced by the government as part of measures to contain the spread of the COVID 19 pandemic in the country.
So far, Ghana has recorded 2,719 cases with 18 deaths and 294 recoveries.
