Ghana’s parliament scraps taxes on covid-19 donations

Donations of stocks of equipment and goods as relief supplies for the fight against the COVID 19 outbreak will no longer attract taxes. Parliament, this afternoon, approved tax waivers to scrap taxes such as 15% value added tax (VAT), 2.5% National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL) and 2.5% GETFund levy on COVID 19 donations. The law makers believe the incentive will encourage individuals, corporate bodies and institutions to donate towards the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. HEALTH WORKERS IN GHANA TO ENJOY GH¢288 MILLION FROM GOVT.

Ghana's Parliament has approved an amount of ¢288.6 million tax waiver as incentive package for health workers in the country.  The purpose of the tax waiver is to motivate them in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID 19) outbreak in the country  The waiver is on the emoluments of frontline workers for the months of April, May and June. Additionally, COVID 19 front line health worker s will also enjoy special allowances for the period of March, April, May and June 2020. The tax waiver incentive for health worker was announced by President AKufo-Addo last month.  According to the President, front line health worker are to enjoy 50% of their basic salary as additional allowance without taxes. GFA begins renovation works at headquarters

The headquarters of the Ghana Football Association is currently undergoing some renovation works ahead of the rainy season. The move has been necessitated by the leakages in the roofing and window frames on the ground and first floors of the building. The GFA secretariat has suffered in the past during the rainy season. The renovation works, which had to stop due to the lockdown, resumed upon the lifting of the ban and will be concluded next week. The work is expected to solve the long-standing problem of leakages during rains when completed.
